Vải thun 100% cotton khi đốt cháy sẽ cho ngọn lửa màu hồng với khói xám và đặc biệt không để lại chất nhựa rắn sau khi cháy hết.
Ngược lại với vải pha cotton, vì thành phần có chứa sợi poly nên sẽ có mùi nhựa khét khi đốt cháy và sau khi cháy sẽ vón cục lại. Nếu trong quá trình đốt, mùi nhựa càng nhiều và mùi khét càng nồng thì chất poly trong vải càng cao.
