Vải dệt kim
Dệt kim là một quá trình bao gồm các vòng sợi xen kẽ vào nhau để sản xuất vải. Nói một cách đơn giản hơn, vòng được hình thành bằng cách sử dụng một hoặc nhiều sợi ở trước và kế tiếp trong hàng kết lại. Vải thu được gọi là một loại vải dệt kim và nó sau này được sử dụng trong hàng may mặc như áo thun, áo nỉ, v.v
Cấu trúc vải dệt kim có thể được tạo ra bằng tay, thường thấy trong áo len, nhưng thông thường, để sản xuất hàng may mặc thương mại, máy dệt kim được sử dụng để sản xuất các loại vải các loại khác nhau. Các máy dệt kim sử dụng một hoặc nhiều cây kim khác nhau để sản xuất vải.

Dệt thoi
Dệt thoi là phương pháp phổ biến được sử dụng để tạo ra cấu trúc của vải. Nó là việc xen kẽ sợi như là một cách để sản xuất các loại vải. Mỗi sợi được gọi là sợi dọc (Vertical) hoặc sợi ngang (Horizontal) và chúng được đan xen kẽ vuông góc với nhau để tạo ra một cấu trúc vải.
Nói một cách đơn giản, hãy tưởng tượng bạn đang làm một cái chiếu, và bạn đang chèn một cọng rơm trên cọng rơm khác vuông góc với nhau.
Kết quả là tạo ra vải dệt thoi và cũng có các biến thể được thực hiện để làm các loại vải khác nhau.
Vải dệt thoi
Một số thuộc tính chung của các loại vải dệt thoi:
- Kể từ khi sợi được đóng gói chặt chẽ, vải dệt thoi thường bền trong tự nhiên.
- Vì lý do trên, chúng ít co giãn hơn các loại vải dệt kim (trừ trường hợp được làm từ sợi căng).
- Vải dệt thoi thường làm không mảnh dẻ tốt như vải dệt kim.
- Chúng có xu hướng nhăn và đòi hỏi phải là ủi thường xuyên.
- Bởi vì chúng ít chống nhăn, các thiết kế có thể được vận chuyển một cách dễ dàng.
Phân biệt vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi
Phân biệt bằng quan sát thớ vải:
Trong vải dệt kim, một sợi liên tục được lặp lại để tạo ra những vòng đan nhỏ xíu liên tục như bện tóc.
Trong vải dệt thoi, nhiều sợi ngang, dọc đan chồng lên nhau để tạo thành hàng, cột:
Phân biệt bằng cách thử kéo căng vải:
Khi vải dệt kim được kéo dọc theo chiều ngang, nó sẽ giãn ra đáng kể. Nếu kéo giãn theo chiều dọc, nó sẽ chỉ có thể kéo dài được một chút.
Hầu hết các loại vải dệt thoi không thể kéo dài theo chiều dọc của vải, và chỉ có thể giãn rất ít theo chiều ngang của vải.
Phân biệt bằng khả năng chống nhăn của vải:
Đối với mẫu vải dệt kim, khi bạn nắm kỹ trong nắm tay, khi bạn buông tay ra, vải sẽ có khả năng phẳng lại ngay sau một vài giây.
Đối với vải dệt thoi, nếu bạn nắm mẫu vải và sau đó buông ra như trên, mẫu vải sẽ bị nhăn như hình dưới, mà không thể phục hồi ngay nếu không ủi.

Vải dệt kim và dệt thoi là hai loại vải chính thường được dùng trong dệt vải hoặc cho may mặc. Mỗi loại sẽ tương ứng với những hình thức, tính chất và ưu, nhược điểm khác nhau. Nhìn chung, cả hai loại vải đều được ưa chuộng và có tính ứng dụng rất cao tùy vào từng mục đích khác nhau trong cuộc sống.
Ở bài viết này, chúng tôi so sánh vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi để anh chị dễ dàng phân biệt hai công nghệ dệt này:
Cấu tạo vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi
Vải dệt kim là loại vải dùng kim dệt để kết sợi hoặc tơ dài thành cuộn sợi. Được tạo nên từ các vòng sợi liên kết đều đặn với nhau theo một quy luật tạo vòng được sản xuất bởi công nghệ dệt kim. Hệ thống kim dệt giữ vòng sợi trước trong khi các vòng sợi mới được hình thành ở phía trước các vòng sợi cũ.
Các vòng này liên kết với nhau theo hướng dọc và hướng ngang theo quy luật thành vải. Trên mỗi hàng vòng, các vòng sợi có thể nằm thẳng đứng hoặc xiên sang trái hoặc phải. Hệ thống kim dệt trên máy dệt kim tạo ra cơ cấu chuyển động nâng lên, hạ xuống và kết hợp đóng mở kim, từ đó tạo ra vải dệt kim.
Vải dệt kim có hai loại chính: dệt một mặt và dệt hai mặt.
So sánh vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi
Vải dệt thoi được tạo nên bởi quá trình kết hợp của 2 hệ sợi: sợi dọc (Warp) và sợi ngang (Weft) thẳng vuông góc với nhau. Trong đó tùy theo từng mục đích dệt theo kiểu dệt khác nhau, từ đó sợi ngang sẽ được đan lồng với sợi dọc theo những quy cách khác nhau tạo ra các bằng các kiểu dệt khác nhau.
+ Sợi được chạy suốt theo chiều dọc (Lengthwise) của vải (Woven Fabric), được gọi là sợi dọc (Warp Yarn).
+ Sợi chạy theo chiều ngang (Widthwise) của vải, được gọi là sợi ngang (Weft or Filling Yarn).
Sau khi so sánh vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi, ta có thể dễ dàng thấy vải dệt kim được cấu tạo bởi các hàng vòng uốn lượn, đan xen lẫn nhau nên sẽ tạo cho vải được độ co giãn và độ xốp nhất định. Còn vải dệt thoi được tạo nên bởi sự vuông góc giữa các sợi với nhau nên cấu trúc khá khăng khít và hầu như không có sự co giãn.
Kết cấu vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi
Vải dệt kim: tạo nên từ các vòng sợi liên kết với nhau. Vải dệt kim gồm có các hàng ngang gọi là hàng vòng, các cột dọc gọi là hàng dọc.
Vải dệt thoi: Được dệt từ hai hay nhiều sợi dệt vuông góc với nhau. Những sợi dọc được gọi là sợi dệt dọc, những sợi ngang gọi là sợi dệt ngang.
So sánh vải dệt kim và vải dệt thoi về đặc tính
Dệt kim được hình thành từ các vòng sợi. Các vòng sợi này được cuộn trong không trung. Khi gặp tác động bởi một lực bên ngoài, vải dệt kim sẽ bị thay đổi theo hướng của lực.
Nếu vải bị kéo giãn theo chiều dọc thì đường cong vải sẽ bị thay đổi. Độ cao của vòng sợi bị tăng lên và đồng thời độ rộng của các vòng sợi nhỏ đi. Trong trường hợp vải kéo theo chiều ngang, độ cao và độ rộng của vòng sợi thay đổi xen kẽ lẫn nhau. Vải dệt kim có độ co giãn lớn.
Ở vải dệt thoi, các sợi ngang và sợi dọc của vải dệt thoi có độ cong nhất định. Độ cong giữa sợi ngang và sợi dọc luôn có hướng vuông góc với mặt phẳng vải. Giữa sợi dọc của vải dệt thoi và độ cong của các sợi sẽ có lực tác động. Khi kéo vải theo chiều dọc thì độ kéo giãn chiều dọc tăng lên.
Đồng thời lực kéo sợi dọc tăng lên và độ cong giảm xuống. Khi vải dệt thoi bị tác động theo chiều ngang, lực tác động sợi ngang tăng lên đồng thời độ cong giảm xuống. Khi đó độ cong của sợi dọc của vải dệt thoi tăng lên.
Đặc trưng cấu tạo vải
Vải dệt kim đặc biệt ở cấu trúc vòng sợi. Do đó có thể co giãn theo nhiều chiều, độ đàn hồi của vải tốt. Vải dệt kim có tính năng thoát khí lớn. Đem lại cảm giác mềm mại nhờ cấu tạo của vải từ những vòng sợi.
Vải dệt thoi: Nhờ sự co giãn của sợi ngang và sợi dọc không ảnh hưởng nhiều đến độ co giãn của vải dệt thoi mà các sản phẩm dệt thoi có độ kín tốt và rất cứng. Do đó có thể phục vụ được cho nhiều mục đích.
Tính sử dụng của vải dệt kim
- Vải dệt kim thường được sử dụng trong may mặc làm quần áo thể thao, quần áo sơ sinh, áo mayo, áo phông (t-shirt, polo)… nhờ khả năng giữ nhiệt và thấm hút mồ hôi tốt. Sản phẩm chủ yếu vải dệt kim là vải thun.
- Vải dệt thoi được sử dụng trong rất nhiều lĩnh vực may mặc, sinh hoạt, y tế, kỹ thuật… Sản phẩm chủ yếu là vải kaki, vải màn, vải gạc, vải phin…
Tính chất vật lý
- Có bề mặt thoáng, mềm, xốp.
- Tính co dãn, đàn hồi lớn khi chịu lực tác dụng, độ dãn của vải lớn.
- Giữ nhiệt tốt mà vẫn không cản trở quá trình trao đổi chất giữa cơ thể người và môi trường xung quanh.
- Tính thẩm thấu tốt và thoát ẩm tốt.
- Ít nhầu, dễ bảo quản do đó hầu như không cần là ủi nhiều.
- Tính vệ sinh trong may mặc tốt, dễ dàng giặt sạch.
- Cảm giác khi mặc thoải mái, dễ chịu.
- Nhược điểm: bị quăn mép và dễ tuột vòng.
- Có một độ mảnh tốt vừa tạo sự thoải mái, vừa mang tính thời trang cao.
Vải dệt thoi:
- Có hệ thống các sợi vuông góc với nhau: hệ sợi dọc vuông góc với hệ sợi ngang.
- Bề mặt vải tương đối khít.
- Vải có cấu trúc tương đối bền tốt.
- Các biên vải rất rõ nét.
- Ít khi bị co hơn vải dệt kim.
- Dễ bị nhầu hơn vải dệt kim đặc biệt là một số loại vải như: cotton, lanh…
- Vải không bị quăn mép, không bị tuột vòng như vải dệt kim.
- Kiểu dệt, chất liệu rất đa dạng và phong phú.
- Độ dãn dọc và dãn ngang rất ít. Chỉ có thể co dãn ít theo hướng chéo nghiêng giữa chiều sợi dọc và sợi ngang. Vải dệt thoi chỉ có thể dãn ngang hoặc dọc nếu được thiết kể dệt với sự tham gia của sợi có tính co dãn như Spandex hoặc Lycra…
VẢI DỆT KIM , DỆT THOI VÀ VẢI KHÔNG DỆT
Nói chung , 3 quá trình căn bản sản xuất ra các loại vải được phân loại như sau:
Dệt thoi:
Dệt thoi là quá trình tạo ra sự kết hợp của 2 hệ sợi: dọc ( warp) và sợi ngang ( weft) thẳng góc với nhau . Trong đó tùy theo từng kiểu dệt khác nhau, sợi ngang sẽ được đan lồng với sợi dọc với những quy cách khác nhau tạo ra các bằng các kiểu dệt khác nhau.
Sợi được chạy suốt theo chiều dọc ( lengthwise) của vải ( Woven fabric), được gọi là sợi dọc ( Warp yarn) và sợi chạy theo chiều ngang ( widthwise) của vải, được gọi là sợi ngang( weft or filling yarn).
– Vải có cấu trúc tương đối bền tốt.
– Bề mặt vải khít.
– Độ dãn dọc và dãn ngang ít.
– Dễ bị nhầu, đặc biệt với một số loại vải như cotton, lanh…

– Đa dạng và phong phú về kiểu dệt, chất liệu.
Dệt kim:
Là quá trình tạo thành vải bằng sự liên kết một hệ các vòng sợi ( loop) với nhau. Các vòng sợi (mắt sợi) được liên kết với nhau nhờ kim dệt giữ vòng sợi cũ trong khi một vòng sợi mới được hình thành ở phía trước của vòng sợi cũ. Vòng sợi cũ sau đó lồng qua vòng sợi mới để tạo thành vải.
Vải ( Knitting fabric) bao gồm các hàng ngang gọi là hàng vòng ( Course) và cột dọc gọi là cột vòng ( Wales).
– Bề mặt thoáng, mềm, xốp.
– Tính co dãn, đàn hồi lớn. Khi chịu lực tác dụng, độ dãn của vải lớn hơn nhiều so với vải dệt thoi.
– Giữ nhiệt tốt mà vẫn không cản trở quá trình trao đổi chất giữa cơ thể người và môi trường xung quanh.
– Ít nhầu, dễ bảo quản và giặt sạch.
– Tính vệ sinh trong may mặc tốt.
– Tạo cảm giác mặc dễ chịu.
– Nhược điểm: quăn mép và dễ tuột vòng.
Vải ( Knitting fabric) bao gồm các hàng ngang gọi là hàng vòng ( Course) và cột dọc gọi là cột vòng ( Wales).
Vải không dệt ( Non-Woven)
Trong quá trình này , vải được gọi là vải không dêt, tạo ra bằng cách gắn kết các sợi lại với nhau không bằng cách dệt hay đan mà chúng được giữ lại với nhau do một hóa chất kết dính hay có thể bằng cách làm nóng chảy một trong những thành phần xơ sợi trong chính bản thân vải.
Vải không dệt thông thường là vải kỹ thuật nên có thể có thời gian sử dụng rất ngắn, hoặc rất bền; Có thể mang những chức năng đặc biệt cho nhiều phạm vi ứng dụng khác nhau như : Có thể thấm nước ( absorbency) rất tốt, cũng có thể kỵ nước ( water repellency) hoặc chống thấm nước( water proof) ; Khả năng chống cháy ( flame retardancy) rất cao; Mềm mại (softness);Đàn hối ( Stretch) ; Cường lực cao ( Strength) ; Cách nhiệt ( Insulation); Chống khuẩn ( Anti-bacteria) ….
Phạm vi ứng dụng của vải không dệt rất rộng bao gồm nhiều lĩnh vực trong đời sống con người.
Đây chỉ là những khái niêm cơ bản, cung cấp hình dung các phương pháp chủ yếu và truyền thống tạo ra vải. Hiên nay, rất nhiều công nghệ hiên đại dệt ra vải mà làm cho những tên gọi truyền thống không còn thật sự thích hợp. Ví dụ như chúng ta vẫn dùng tên gọi truyền thống là vải dệt thoi.
Nhưng thực tế việc đan sợi ngang vào vải “dệt thoi” đã không còn là vai trò của “con thoi” , như trên máy dệt kiếm, dệt khí, dệt nước…Hoặc mốt số vải là sự kết hợp giữa phương pháp dệt thoi va không dệt…Chúng ta sẽ đề cập riêng từng phương pháp ở các bài sau.
