Vải lanh là gì
Vải sợi lanh có khả năng thấm hút tốt, mang lại cảm giác thoáng mát, dễ chịu cho người mặc dùng để may đồng phục, chăn gối, đồ trang trí…
Ngày nay có nhiều loại vải được dùng để làm nguyên liệu tạo ra các sản phẩm phục vụ nhu cầu cuộc sống của con người. Trong số đó, vải lanh là loại vải được nhiều người yêu thích vì độ bền cao, khả năng thấm hút tốt. Để hiểu hơn về vải lanh, bài viết sau đây sẽ cung cấp thông tin chi tiết đến bạn.
Vải lanh là loại vải được làm từ các phần xơ, vỏ, sợi của cây lanh. Loại cây này thường xuất hiện ở khu vực có khí hậu mát mẻ. Ở Việt Nam, loại cây này thường xuất hiện ở Phía Tây Bắc của nước ta, đặc biệt là ở Sapa. Cây lanh sau khi được lấy vỏ, ngâm và đập để lấy phần xơ trong vỏ được đem về xử lý rồi tạo thành sợi, từ sợi sẽ dệt thành vải lanh.
Ngày xưa, vải lanh được dệt theo phương pháp truyền thống dệt bằng khung cửi, rồi nhuộm bằng cái loại quả và nhựa cây tự nhiên như củ nâu (nhuộm màu nâu), nhựa chàm (để nhuộm màu xám)… Nhưng hiện nay, công nghệ khoa học đã phát triển thì các sợi lanh sẽ được dệt bằng máy dệt rồi tạo thành vải. Điều này giúp số lượng vải được sản xuất nhiều hơn, đa dạng về màu sắc và kiểu dáng hơn.
II. Nguồn gốc phát triển của vải lanh
Từ thời xa xưa, tại khu vực Lưỡng Hà, con người đã biết trồng cây lanh để làm vải. Nhưng chỉ những tầng lớp quyền quý mới được sử dụng nó.
Sau đó, các nhà khảo cổ học đã phát hiện một mảnh vải lanh nhuộm tại hang động cổ. Sau quá trình phân tích, kiểm tra, đánh giá, họ đã kết luận vải lanh có nguồn gốc cách đây 36.000 năm.
Trong giai đoạn chiến tranh thế giới thứ nhất diễn ra, ông Louis Crommelin đã bước đầu thay đổi ngành dệt. Đến năm 1711, ông thành lập hội đồng quản trị sản xuất vải lanh tại Ireland.
III. Quy trình sản xuất vải lanh
- Bước 1: Để tạo ra được sợi lanh dài nhất và chất lượng, người thợ phải cắt sát gốc cây hoặc nhổ toàn bộ cây. Sau khi thu hoạch xong, hạt giống của cây sẽ được tách ra.
- Bước 2: Tiếp theo, thực hiện giầm cây lanh. Đây là quá trình sử dụng các vi sinh vật có lợi để tự phân hủy pectin giúp cho các sợi lanh liên kết với nhau. Ngoài ra, có thể sử dụng hóa chất để giầm cây lanh, tuy nhiên phương pháp này sẽ ảnh hưởng đến chất lượng vải thành phẩm. Có thể thực hiện giầm cây lanh ở trong bồn, bể hoặc ngoài ruộng lanh.
- Bước 3: Thực hiện đập. Quá trình đập thường được diễn ra vào tháng 8 và tháng 12. Ở giai đoạn này sẽ thực hiện loại bỏ phần gỗ của cây bằng cách nghiền giữa hai thanh kim loại.
- Bước 4: Phần xơ lanh của vỏ cây sau khi được tách ra sẽ để riêng biệt còn các phần như mảnh vụn, hạt lanh sẽ được gộp chung để dùng vào mục đích khác.
- Bước 5: Thực hiện chải sợi lanh. Thực hiện chải giống như hành động chải tóc. Khi đó, những sợi dai và mềm sẽ được giữ lại, loại bỏ các tạp chất từ vỏ và liên kết vỏ cây.
- Bước 6: Cuối cùng là đi xe thành sợi để dùng cho dệt vải. Trước khi đi nhuộm hoặc in sẽ thực hiện tẩy trắng cho vải như quy trình nhuộm đã giới thiệu ở đây.
Hiện nay trên thế giới, cây lanh được trồng ở nhiều khu vực khác nhau, đặc biệt là Tây Âu. Nhưng vì sự phát triển của công nghiệp kỹ thuật, nên ở khu vực Đông Âu và Trung Quốc đang dần xuất hiện nhiều lanh hơn. Trong đó, Mỹ là nước nhập khẩu lớn nhất về số lượng lanh.
IV. Tính chất và đặc điểm nổi bật của vải lanh là gì
Khi sờ bằng tay, bạn sẽ cảm thấy mịn màng, mát mẻ. Khi giặt sẽ cảm thấy vải mềm hơn. Tuy nhiên, cần bảo quản tốt quần áo làm bằng vải lanh, nếu không sẽ dễ gây ra nếp nhăn hoặc dễ đứt sợi chỉ lanh. Các chỗ dễ bị đứt là đường viền, cổ áo hoặc vị trí bị nhăn trong quá trình ủi đồ.
Vải có có độ dày và mỏng linh hoạt, có thể thay đổi từ thô và cứng thành mềm mại, mịn màng. Ngoài ra, vải lanh cũng có khả năng hấp thụ và xả nước nhanh chóng, có thể hấp thụ độ ẩm lên đến 20% nhưng không gây cảm giác ẩm ướt trong quá trình sử dụng.
Vải lanh có độ bền và chắc cao. Tuy nhiên lại có tính đàn hồi thấp nên sẽ dễ bị đứt nếu thường xuyên bị gấp và ủi liên tục cùng một vị trí nhiều lần.
Đặc biệt, vải lanh có thể chống được bọ thảm nhưng các chất như mồ hôi, nấm mốc, thuốc tẩy có thể làm hư hại vải lanh. Ngoài ra, chất liệu này cũng rất dễ để vệ sinh và bảo quản. Nó có thể giặt tay, giặt máy hay giặt hấp. Vải lanh cũng có khả năng chống bụi bẩn cao.
Chú ý: Không nên làm khô vải lanh quá mức cho phép. Vải rất dễ bị nếp gấp nên cần thường xuyên ủi nhưng không nên ủi quá mạnh tay. Hạn chế gấp trong tủ đồ mà nên treo lên bằng móc.
V. Ưu nhược điểm của vải sợi lanh
1. Ưu điểm của vải lanh
- Vải có độ bóng cao.
- Cấu trúc xơ thẳng, dài, tạo độ bền ma sát ướt và độ bóng của mặt vải.
- Có thể giặt tay, giặt máy, giặt khô tùy ý.
- Độ bền của sản phẩm cao.
- Khả năng thấm hút của vải tốt.
- An toàn, không gây kích ứng cho da, kể cả da nhạy cảm.
- Thân thiện, bảo vệ môi trường.
2. Nhược điểm của sợi vải lanh
- Có độ đàn hồi, co giãn thấp.
- Dễ bị gãy sợi, gấp nếp.
- Dễ bị nhăn áo.
VI. Ứng dụng của vải lanh trong đời sống hiện nay
Hiện nay, vải được sử dụng để làm chăn ga gối đệm, khăn trải bàn, khăn ăn… Ngoài ra, còn được dùng để làm các vật dụng trang trí nội thất thương mại như vải trải sàn/tường, bọc ghế, bọc cửa sổ… Hoặc các sản phẩm quần áo như đồng phục công ty, váy, áo sơ mi… Sản phẩm công nghiệp: túi vải thô, tranh hoặc chỉ khâu…
Hiện tại, một số nhà nghiên cứu cũng đang thử nghiệm sự kết hợp của hai loại sợi tự nhiên được coi là tốt nhất và rẻ nhất là bông và vải lanh để tạo ra một loại chỉ mới nhằm cải thiện chất lượng vải – bông cho thời tiết nóng ẩm.
Vải lanh ngày nay cũng được các họa sĩ sử dụng để làm nền cho các bức tranh sơn dầu. Ở Mỹ, người ta thường dùng vải bông thay cho vải lanh, vì vải bông có giá bằng một phần ba vải lanh, và chỉ những họa sĩ chuyên nghiệp mới sử dụng chúng thường xuyên. Còn ở Châu Âu, lanh thường được dùng để làm vải nền cho các cửa hàng nghệ thuật.
VII. Kích thước chuẩn đo lường vải lanh trên thế giới
- Đơn vị tiêu chuẩn cho sợi chỉ lanh là “lea”.
- Độ dài của vải sẽ được tính bằng “Yard”.
VIII. Một số thông tin về vải lanh
- Thời xưa vải lanh từng được dùng để làm sách, tiêu biểu là cuốn sách cổ Liber Linteus.
- Vải lanh còn được người trung cổ làm áo giáp, lá chắn hoặc là dây cung.
- Tiền giấy được làm từ 75% bông và 25% vải lanh.
- Tư 2800 năm TCN, đã xuất hiện váy làm từ vải lanh.
- Vải lanh có độ bền khi ướt cao hơn khi khô.
IX. Cách bảo quản và vệ sinh vải lanh đúng cách
- Nên ủi ở nhiệt độ 140 độ C.
- Hạn chế việc giặt đồ bằng thuốc tẩy.
- Nên phơi bằng móc, giữ cho thẳng trước khi phơi và không cần vắt tránh nhàu sản phẩm.
- Nên cho vào túi lưới khi giặt bằng máy.
- Bảo quản trang phục ở nơi khô ráo và thoáng mát.
- Phơi đồ ở bóng râm, tránh ánh nắng trực tiếp từ mặt trời.
